My local haunts!

I'll tell you where I go for a beer here.  Have patience though, there's a lot to get through and I only do this one day a week:)  If you've been to a great bar let me know about it [email protected] and I'll go check it out.  Remember though, I'm 39 years old so nothing too loud, lol:)  I don't do any bars that show Soaps or Reality TV programmes and very little Karaoke or Show Bars be they tribute acts or drag stuff.  Not my scene, sorry:)

San Miguel Bar

It's in the harbour in Puerto del Carmen and it's probably my favourite bar on the island.  I think the decor, the music and the feel of the bar are first class, the service is generally great and the DJ reads the audience excellently.  In truth, this area is my preference for a pint or two.

Buddy's

Live music?  The bar is tucked away in the corner of the harbour in the Old Town Puerto del Carmen.  Again, I love this bar.  Rory leads the line from the drums which is a little strange but I guess what's good for Phil Collins...  The feel is right, the band don't do the usual Lanzarote set list and the audience are really appreciative and knowlegable overall.  Definitely worth a visit.

Route 66 & Tropical

On the strip opposite the sea in Puerto del Carmen these two must be owned by the same bloke surely?:)  Still, lovely bars, a bit loud but nice terrace and music good in general.  Same quality sound system and decor as the San Miguel bar in the Old Town so again, worth a visit.

Mollies

Ok, I can't discard the bars that I play in can I?  Mollies is in Playa Blanca, opposite and up a bit from Burger King!  A lot of Irish folk complain that pretty much all the Irish Bars are Spanish owned.  Well, take it from me, this one isn't.  Des and Gwen are your hosts and live music ( including yours truly and Mr Robbo ) along with Sports and Food are provided daily.  Great views and friendly staff, massive terrace overlooking the Atlantic.

The Irish Anvil

Situated in the Punta Limones area of Playa Blanca and it offers pretty much what all Irish Bars offer but with a touch of class.  The bar is very clean and presentable ( I wish I could say the same about the staff, ha ha! Sorry guys, couldn't resist:) ) and they have Live Music, Food and Sports 7 days a week.  They also have outside seating and a nice view of the harbour.  The tuna salad is massive!

Mulligans

This one's on the main strip in Puerto del Carmen.  Again, I tend to go to the Live Music bars rather than the bars offering cheaper beer and sports only.  Last time I was down there the band were excellent and I'm sure they won't disappoint.  I think food is served but I couldn't be sure.  Service is good and the decor is great.  The sound is a little poor to be honest but that's just me being critical I guess.  You can't change the shape of a room eh?  It's an Irish Bar in name but the band don't play all Irish stuff, leaning more to the classic rock niche.  Definitely worth a visit.

The Kings Head

My girlfriend and I went for a drink there yesterday and it brought back some memories for me.  I had some amazing times in the Kings Head and although I haven't been back in there for years until yesterday I still love the bar.  They do food although the menu isn't great ( my good lady said so and she should know ) but they still have the music on and to me, it would be the perfect bar to have a band in.  It's along the front of the strip in Playa Blanca, tucked away there in the corner, great decor and amazing guitar shaped beer pump!  Love it!
